There may be more hidden among the endless folders but the recipes folder itself has 8k. Any ideas?Įdit 3: Just had a poke around at the folders and it looks like I managed to get just over 8k of the recipes. They're all hosted on which I can't seem to find a way to access/download stuff from without it being directly linked to the image. While BBC still has the site up it links to images etc there and looks normal.Įdit 2: I've just discovered why the images haven't come down. So if you view this truly offline it loses a lot of its formatting. If anyone has any ideas/knowhow of how best to use this, let me know and I'll PM you a link to a 300mb zip of the whole things.Įdit: Worth mentioning that this is pretty much the raw site data so not including images etc. I also can't stick it on a torrent right now because they're blocked in work.Īnyone have any idea of what we should do next? I was thinking maybe strip it of images and host it somewhere with a functioning search, or just have it available to torrent. The search doesn't work and it's full of copyright images so can't host it anywhere right now.

It's about 500mb and you can browse it offline. This morning I used an app I have to pull the entirety of bbc.co.uk/food/ off the internet and I now have it in a single folder. I've also just been sent this by /u/user24 - It's a free, open source search engine & scraper for the BBC Recipes. Hopefully we'll see something interesting come of this and I'm sure if someone does do something with it, we'll hear about it. I know there's been some rumblings about it not actually being removed etc but I still think it would be good to have an option to access this stuff that didn't rely on the BBC etc. Thank you for your understanding.Īnother Edit: I've passed the files on to a few other users, all of who seem to have good ideas for what to do with it.
